This is an excellent recipe! I used the same recipe, only I used my juicer to juice the apples instead of heating and simmering them on the stove. I highly recommend using a juicer if you have i, it makes this recipe quick and easy!

I fabricated this today using ten very big apples, cores removed, and following the balance of the proportions. I reduced the heat on the boil - just barely kept it humid simply not humid as well difficult - and did the full hour. I actually didn't lose that much liquid. My cider wasn't too sugariness at all, only nosotros felt it needed a pinch of salt and more than spices, so I added those at the terminate. After straining, I got two.5 liters of cider, so definitely non a total gallon. I followed the advice of a previous reviewer and used the pulpy apples that were left to brand the best darn apple butter I've ever had: added 2/iii loving cup dark-brown carbohydrate, 2/iii cup white saccharide, a tsp of common salt, ground cloves, nutmeg and more cinnamon and cooked with a hat for three hours and without a hat for some other hr and a half. I used an immersion blender to blend in the apple skins and got four cups yield. YUM all around - happy with the cider and the apple butter, too!

Try simmering everything in a crock pot and strain it when you get home from work - easy peasy!

I live in China and was missing apple cider and so much. I made this recipe at dwelling and was and so excited when it was finished but was shocked at how sweet it was. The apple taste was wonderful merely there is waaaay also much sugar in this recipe. As my friend said (another foreigner here) it was similar drinking liquidized apple pie. My suggestion is to use only a 1/2 cup or less of sugar and it would be perfect.

I just finished making information technology. It was unproblematic, but time consuming. I made it exactly as written. Information technology is very good. My picky 12 year onetime even drank a cup and said she would potable it again. I will say that something must've went wrong because I only got about a quart of cider when it was all said and done. I think boiling it for an hour was too much and broke it downward also fast and and then after that it started evaporating. I will for certain brand it once more, only will put less heat on at first and non boil it uncovered that long. I volition make more within the next couple of days and let you know how that goes.-----ok I made it again, I added more water (won't do again) information technology was ok just watered down, so if I happen to practise it again, I will practise exactly as stated but will just shorten the boiling fourth dimension and end upward with only a quart of cider, but very yummy...
11/30/2009
not sure why everyone is proverb "fourth dimension consumeing". I cut up the apples, filled the pan with water, put in the sugar and spices and threw it on the woodstove. was impressed with how simple the whole process was. I used a five-shaped coffee filter and it took out all the soilds. this is a uncomplicated recipe for those who don't have a press.

This was an exciting new technique and recipe for me. I'one thousand hardly an apple cider aficionado (and had to wait up the difference betwixt "juice" and "cider"), only this tasted really good, and the canteen of store-brand cider in my refrigerator couldn't compare. I followed the recipe exactly every bit written. It didn't say what kind of apples to use, but I did a tiny flake of enquiry and decided to mix 5 Cameos and 5 Granny Smiths. I also presumed I didn't need to bother removing the stems, cores or seeds; I just quartered the apples and tossed them into my stockpot. This also marked merely the second time I'd ever used cheesecloth. I was a fleck careful with the two sieving steps, merely overall the recipe is quite easy, even though it stretches out over 3 hours, plus more than time to chill. I've already told people nigh how easy and tasty this is, and I plan to make some other batch this coming weekend. Thank you for opening up a new dimension for this intermediate cook, and such a delicious gustation too!
12/09/2011
Give thanks you for having a 18-carat apple cider recipe as apposed to all of the and so-called recipes that call for apple cider as an ingredient to "MAKE" apple cider. I am applaud that allrecipes has published soo many fraudulent "recipes" yet I take a very unique family candy recipe they accept yet to to even review (after 4 years!).
09/09/2010
Awesome! I made this exactly as written and it was delicious. While I would say make this when you're going to exist around the house all twenty-four hours just and so you can keep an eye on information technology, it is certainly Non time consuming. What could be easier than cutting up apples, dumping them in a pot with some spices and letting it do its thing? The straining can be a bit messy, merely it'southward non besides bad. Next time I may add together less carbohydrate and cinnamon and more apples simply considering I like my cider really strong, but overall information technology's wonderful!
10/22/2011
This recipe is succulent! Instead of boiling it for an hour, I waited for the h2o to boil and treated like soup by reducing the estrus and simmering for the other two hours. I ended up with a full gallon of cider! :) Also, instead of using regular white carbohydrate, I substituted well-nigh one-half of information technology with light chocolate-brown sugar. I didn't have any cheese cloth and then I used my java filter instead. This worked out great! Awesome recipe and I'll definitely make it over again! (Side Note: I used 10 romeo apples)
01/12/2010
Excellent. Afterwards I likewise added some red wine to it and it tasted fifty-fifty better.
09/19/2010
soooo uncomplicated! although it took three hours, it was definately worth it! but i only got 2 cups of cider (exactly)!! so adjacent fourth dimension i think im going to leave it uncovered for mayhap one-half the time and lower the heat. but will definately make once again! oh! and i didnt have any allspice so i but added some extra cinnamon, a lilliputian nutmeg and a dash of pepper. still came out neat
09/17/2013
OMG! The house smelled and then skillful when making this cider! The kids commented it smelled similar Christmas! I had plenty apples from our apple tree tree to do eight batches of this recipe in my largest stock pot. I did not stop up using as much sugar as the recipe calls for...the amount of sugar you lot would need would profoundly depend on the tartness or sweet of your apples. I ended up using approximately 1/3 c per batch for my apples. I also used a few more spices to add more of an apple tree pie flavor to the cider. I used cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and cardamom. I hope to tin can plenty of the cider to enjoy throughout the fall and winter. The leftover lurid fabricated a flavorful absurdity and also apple butter. Yum!
10/31/2017
I love this recipe its a neat starter guide. I did it once with exact measurements but realized it needed some tweaking. Heres how I fabricated it the 2d time 2 Tbs of Allspice ii Tbs of Cinnamon 2 Tbs of Nutmeg one Tbs of vanilla excerpt 1 cup of sugar (this can modify depending on what apples you utilise, I made this with Mcintosh) I likewise used 15 Mcintosh apples I brought it to a boil on Medium Rut for i hour without a cover and and then simmered it for ii with a encompass Also you need to add together water as you're cooking otherwise you wont make very much. I added water twice during the beginning 60 minutes and and then in one case per hour for the remaining 2 hours. It should yeild you at least a 1/2 gallon if not more than depending on how much water you add. Savour!
ten/27/2011
I used my juicer also with all x apples and i/ii c raw sugar my children had it gone by the time it was cooled. it got pretty thick, next time I will add together more than h2o to it. I cooked it later I juiced the apples for about one hr. with the spices. give thanks you for the recipe.
ten/01/2011
I followed the directions exactly, but when I came back after two hours of simmering information technology, ALL of my h2o had evaporated. Was I supposed to go on adding more? If and so, it would be dainty if the recipe had said as much.
10/17/2012
Loved information technology! I did it a little different though three/4 cup of splenda instead of carbohydrate and I threw it all in a crockpot on high for 8 hours and strained it. All done! It was smashing! Thanks!
ten/25/2010
This is an fantabulous recipe. This is my first time making homemade apple tree cider only information technology was very tasty and my two year onetime daughter but loved it! Volition make it over again!
02/12/2011
This is a not bad recipe. I halved it, and used a bootleg pie spice blend in lieu of the allspice and cinnamon. Didn't have cheesecloth so I fabricated do with what I had. Very tasty.
11/20/2009
Very time consuming during the busy holidays. Came out weak tasting, but sweet. Recipe made less than a gallon. Good for apple aroma throughout the house. Instead of throwing away the solids, I made apple butter with them. Next fourth dimension I will just buy the apple cider from the store and a candle with apple cinnamon aroma and free up my stove for other recipes.
06/09/2013
I think those that are maxim it's too sweet are draining the h2o from the apples or are not using enough h2o. Likewise, larger apples are required, so if yous're using small, y'all need to decrease the sugar. All in all this is a very basic recipe and is delicious. Many thanks for sharing.
12/xiii/2011
I don't fifty-fifty like cider and I liked this. I didn't have a cheese cloth, so I simply strained it twice. Was delicious.
09/08/2011
Boiling at depression oestrus is key! My first time making apple cider and it was a breeze! Thank you for sharing!
09/11/2011
This turned out amazing! I merely boiled it for 50 minutes though. And I would suggest using some Granny Smith apples, because it was so sweet. It would be really good with a chip of a tart taste to it. Merely it tasted great, almost exactly like the apple cider we used to go at the cider mills in Michigan. I will most definitely be making this again, and am telling everyone I know about the recipe.
xi/24/2011
This recipe is excellent! i've made it twice now the whole family loves it! its simple and tasty! its nifty served warm!
ten/19/2015
I don't know how some people got so little off this recipie, I guess the modest tweaks I did made a huge departure. I filled a 15qt stock pot with around 15-16 apples, all were honey crisp except 3 from our apple. I filled the pot with water near to the elevation. I barely brought it to a eddy and kept it on simmer with the chapeau half on half off the entire time for 3-four hours I had to shut it off for half 60 minutes to pick upward my kids. I filled a half gallon and have my 5qt stock pot filled to the brim and no where to put it right at present! I'm forcing my kids to finish the milk lol it tastes awesome too. I did add together more sugar as I had a lot more h2o and apples, I added I wanna say around i/three loving cup brown sugar and perchance another 1/2 loving cup white sugar, I don't measure. I also put in around a tablespoon of ground cloves. On to apple butter or applesauce cause I tin't bear to throw out all this apple goodness! Will deffinately be making this again!
09/25/2016
This cider is delicious! I used 12 medium sized sweet apples (Jonathan & Empire). I cut the sugar to i/ii cup and added cardamom, ground ginger & pumpkin pie spice. Instead of boiling uncovered for one hour, I simmered covered for 2 hours to keep the wet. I then simmered for an hour uncovered because I wanted to smell all the lovely spices. Instead of discarding the solids, I made apple tree butter. I used the pulp and added 1/ii c brown saccharide & i/four c white sugar. I added more pumpkin pie spice & salt. I simmered for ii hours with chapeau on then blended! Yum!!
ten/xv/2011
Very skilful. I actually added four additional apples (I like a strong flavor) too as a teaspoon of nutmeg, a compression of cloves, and a slash of vanilla (didn't mensurate simply information technology wasn't very much). This beverage is great hot or cold! Afterward the offset batch I made two more.
10/eighteen/2011
Tastes peachy! Equally soon as the apples and water came to a eddy I reduced the heat to depression and covered for at least 3 hours. I also added a few whole cloves to the pot. update: I'1000 making this over again....sort of. I am trying it this time without spices and sugar to brand juice for my kids. ( mother in law has apple tree and I am trying to apply them up )I have never canned before, so I am going to freeze is ice foam containers.
10/21/2011
I am trying this recipe with all my left overs like the peels and cores. We volition see how it turns out.
01/27/2014
Made this for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Used half dozen light-green and 6 ruddy apples and boiled for 30 minutes then simmered for several hours. Added some maple syrup and cloves as well. Very good and fabricated the house smell delicious!
09/15/2011
We really enjoy this potable! It'south non my favorite that it takes so long to make, but I think nosotros'll exist able to shorten the time if we go along trying different methods.
x/22/2014
Dainty basic recipe! I recommend making apple butter with the leftover solids.
11/23/2011
Smelled Heavenly! Tasted really mediocre and banal. After hearing the complaints of small volume, i decided to bring to a boil just breifly and then simmer for an hour, covered. upon tasting, i realised this was not delciious and was more often than not just water with a slight hint of apple and cinnamon. and then i removed almost of the large particles(peels) and allowed the stuff to simmer uncovered for another hour. the flavor improved within that hr! only nonetheless not bang-up, so i took a cup or so of unsweetened applesauce that had been taking up space in my fridge, and added that to the mix. stirred information technology up and took a sip, much better! Then i put everything i had strained out previously back into the pot, brought it back upwards to a boil, covered it and held it at a very low boil for 30 minutes to soften up some more. I also added some orange peel. I'm still not in dearest with the recipe, just since thanksgiving is tomorrow and i'm now out of apples, it volition have to practice. next time i think i'll replace the water with apple tree juice, and use better quality apples - the bagged ones just aren't that great.
09/16/2018
Made with Gala merely so with one-half Gala and One-half Honey Crisp. This is an awesome recipe. You tin modify to your liking (i.e. add a dash of cloves, vanilla or nutmeg). I am thinking that the people who concluded up with a pocket-sized corporeality are those who may have cooked it on high for also long. Afterwards the beginning hour, plow the heat way down to a simmer. I accept a 2d batch on the stove now and have already been asked to arrive for our family Thanksgiving. This is a truthful autumn treat. Thank you for sharing.
12/17/2014
Yum and then easy, i used gala apples and next time i will reduce the sugar. I also used more water alot more only it cooked down. About 15c of water.
12/06/2017
This recipe was wonderful. Uncomplicated and tasty. I love drinking information technology warm. Someone else on hither commented that information technology is too sweet but they probably didn't utilize the proper kind of apple. If you use a sugariness apple tree, information technology's going to be overwhelmingly sweetness. Obviously. Use granny smith. Or balance sweet apples with fresh lemon juice and it volition taste perfectly fine.
10/23/2010
While this was a little bit weaker than I would accept liked, information technology was very good! I ended up with seven cups, and if I were doing it again, I'd try to boil information technology downwards a little more to give it a stronger season--or perhaps just change the apple blazon. I used six aureate delicious and half-dozen Jonathans, since that'due south what I had bags of, and I got a very sweet cider--and a very sugariness, good, though somewhat weirdly textured applesauce.
10/09/2018
looking forrad to making this, just take a quick question. does it thing on the type of apples? for instance, I have, on hand, Macintosh apples. would those piece of work?
eleven/02/2010
Great recipe and very uncomplicated to do. Later simmering I double strained the cider with a mesh strainer and than again with cheesecloth. Afterward that I simmered over again for an hour or so. I doubled the amount of apples (had a lot to use) and should have at least a gallon of cider. For anybody who is reporting less than a quart yield, I advise reducing boiling time to 10-15mins and permit to simmer for the residuum. As well, make sure you lot're adding enough water. I pressed down on the apples while adding water to make sure I had practiced coverage.
09/19/2018
This is amazing! I want to add pics of my procedure but don't know how it will work after I submit my postal service. I believe in following every recipe I use as written, the first time I go far...The 2d time; if I like it, I volition typically apply other dwelling cooks' suggestions, along with what my personal taste. This recipe was different because I read a lot of other people'southward comments (strictly pertaining to spices) and incorporated their thoughts into my 1st try...Easily down this is the best homemade apple tree cider recipe for whatsoever novelist melt.
xi/09/2015
This makes a very skillful Apple tree cider. Adjacent time I will have the advice of a reviewer and use a juicer. Information technology's not like you have to baby it at all, just put it on the stove and let information technology make its cocky. Very easy and very simple recipe for homemade apple cider! Thanks for sharing information technology with us
08/fifteen/2013
Wow! delicious and like shooting fish in a barrel!!! I used Granny smith apples and a mixture of cinnamon and apple pie spice (it was all I had). My mom and I like to drink it while it's nonetheless warm! and we are planning on making it and putting it in big mason jars for Christmas gifts!
10/04/2011
This recipe didn't yield a gallon. While information technology was easy enough, information technology didn't even yeild a quart. I used splenda instead of the sugar. . .cuts the calories and makes it 0 points on WW!
10/02/2011
I didn't add whatever sugar - my apples were sweetness. I cooked the cider for the three plus hours according to the recipe and it turned out watery and nether a gallon. Now my cider was adequately clear unlike the photograph by Sweetcreations taken 12/04/2009.
09/17/2012
it didn't make NEARLY a gallon of cider. far less, like maybe 4 cups. And it was a little to sweetness for my liking. I think i will stick to orchard cider.
08/xv/2016
This was an like shooting fish in a barrel recipe to follow, and although the process from showtime to end takes awhile, yous've got lots of free time in the middle. Afterwards making a few batches, I have found that store bought apples, equally have been noted in a few other posts, will requite you a very sweetness cider. The all-time apples to make this with come from the tree in you neighbors back yard. These apples don't take the sweetness store bought ones do. You do run the risk of finding unwanted guests in these apples though! I have besides added other fruits to the pot to see what other flavored cider I would get. Blueberries and strawberries take given me more color than flavor, but endeavour adding two peaches to the brew and you will be amazed!
10/08/2017
Delicious and easy apple tree cider! I added in 1 sliced orange as well, have a squeamish flavour. Wish it made more liquid though!
09/09/2018
If you take cored the apples, Hold solids for applesauce!
09/18/2016
It tasted super adept but information technology just fabricated about 3-4 cups for me. Non happy.
10/thirty/2018
i idea it would be too sweet simply it was amazing and if u strain information technology with a hand towel u get some amazing apple tree sauce for the kids and i got a lot out of my batch i made
11/04/2020
I just fabricated this recipe, it turned out great, I like it. I'm used to having hot cider made from the packets so I was surprised when it didn't take as sweet as that, but I actually like it.
xi/19/2020
I used Cloves instead of AllSpice because I just did not have any in the spice rack. Turned out tasty.
10/14/2020
i love it this is one of my son'due south favorites
10/06/2020
homemade cider from our trees canned for Christmas. It'due south going to be good!
eleven/15/2018
Equally written, this is an easy, decent recipe. Make sure the 1st hour is a simmer/VERY gentle eddy. To brand it 5 stars in my book, I decreased carbohydrate to 1/2 c and added mulling spices the concluding half hr of cooking. Goes very well with bourbon ;)
09/xv/2020
The original recipe would take been similar three stars max. I withal recall that with my changes it's a 100 star recipe. Nosotros take a red crab apple tree and used 10 cups of those and covered them in water added two cinnamon sticks 1 teaspoon nutmeg and 3 cloves. Forth with iii/4 cup sugar. I covered the pot, got it to a eddy then put it all the way on low for 2.v hrs approximately. Then can e and checked it and it was super watered down and had no real favor. So I added another teaspoon nutmeg, another full loving cup carbohydrate 3 more cloves and iii tablespoons black tea. Then left that for peradventure 10 to fifteen minutes and came dorsum to check. Information technology was the most astonishing thing I have always had. Information technology wasn't as sweet as apple tree cider and then whoever complained about it being to much sugar, I had to add together more than and I do not take a sweet tooth. So add a lot more than spices throw in some tea and more sugar. Do not put the tea in at the offset though, it volition become bitter.
ten/27/2018
No changes recipe was perfect. I will definitely brand it again
09/23/2013
Am I missing something. This tasted cipher like cider. I used 20 apples(a mixture) and withal pretty tasteless. I will not brand this again and now am trying to figure out what I can do with this mess. Sorry.
10/fourteen/2017
Information technology tastes great and made my flat odour astonishing but it didn't brand equally much equally I thought it would. Perchance I didn't utilize enough water originally but it barely made three glasses! I'd suggest using a lot of water and go on adding to it every once in a while while it'due south simmering
10/04/2015
Made this for the 1st time with apples from our tree. I cored and de-stemed the apples considering I intended to continue the apple solids to use in some other recipe. I strained it in a fine sieve and reserved the apple solids to use in my domestic dog os recipe. No waste at all. This was a bully recipe and a slap-up way to spend a cold rainy Fall twenty-four hours.
11/eighteen/2017
It was perfectly fine. From what I tin can guess it depends on the apples more than I'd realized. Good recipe.
11/13/2010
This is delicious! I put the apples in a pot with a pasta insert easy, cleaner straining! Instead of adding the ground spices I added a cinnamon stick and a few cardamon seeds. In the terminal hour add together a dry cherry-red pepper to the simmering apples for a overnice little kick!
12/23/2015
I added a bit more water, cooked information technology in the crock pot all dark, and put the soggy apples thru the blender with some if the liquid and then mixed it all back together. It'southward amazing!!
08/21/2020
This recipe is fantastic for cider, and mine'south never come out bad. I use 7 jonagold apples, 2 honeycrisp, and 1 granny smith. Gives it a flavour that is nicely rounded and deliciously well-baked. Also, if you wanna become an actress step, shave the skin off and cutting the core out to get applesauce afterward!
ten/12/2020
Taste-wise this was a very adept recipe. The cider was perfectly spiced with such a simple ingredient list! Reflective of some other reviews, what I found troublesome was the quantity of cider. After my initial ane-hour boiling period, I already had lost more than than one-half of my water. Trying to be true to and keep my faith in the original recipe, I did non add more and I covered to simmer on very low oestrus. After two hours, I had less than ONE cup of cider and information technology was very sweet and strong. So, I ventured off of the original recipe and added the expected serving in water to my original pot with all of the original contents and the cider that had been created. I simmered on low heat for about an hour over again and ended upward with enough cider for the family unit. Nonetheless very tasty, still very spiced and no "overdone" or burnt sensation. I would recommend adding water to gustatory modality and desired volume after the initial recipe.
10/03/2015
We picked a variety of apples from our local orchard last week and then I decided to brand home fabricated cider. Was pleasantly surprised to find this recipe and was thrilled with how piece of cake it was! I strained it commencement through my food mill then again through a modest mesh strainer. I then brought it back upward to a boil and canned it. It was very easy and is incredibly delicious. Will definitely make again - I love information technology.
10/23/2017
Very skillful! For those of you who don't have cheese cloth sitting around, I used newspaper towel and it worked well.
12/22/2016
Made no changes, but when it was done information technology was nearly 1/ii cup of cider and tasted turned. It may have been something I did but I followed the recipe to the T.
02/eleven/2018
I added vanilla extract, tastes like liquid apple pie.
09/25/2017
Very tasty. Just ended up with a couple of cups at the terminate, though. Adjacent time I'll probably turn the heat down a little during the open up-humid stage because it evaporated maybe iii to 4 inches of liquid during the unabridged process. We had to add together water to get a pitcherful. It was still tasty merely not equally good as information technology would take been undiluted! Will brand again, though might endeavour some variations in ingredients as well every bit a ho-hum cooker method.
11/08/2013
I used this process to make pear cider instead of apple cider. I substituted pears for apples, used lite brown sugar instead of white saccharide (only because I was out of white sugar) and used a blend of whole mulling spices instead of ground cinnamon and allspice. Overall I was very happy with the flavor only not so much the quantity of the cider I concluded upwardly with. I'll definitely boil information technology for a shorter corporeality of time next time.
eleven/eighteen/2018
Love making information technology.
09/xxx/2012
This is a corking recipe, and super easy, just I only got about iii cups of cider, so that was a piddling dissapointing. Otherwise, loved it.
08/21/2020
Mine turned out well but I would agree with some other reviewers suggesting to add more apples for a stronger flavour.
09/11/2017
Tasted great and easy to do. I didn't use the full corporeality of sugar because I don't like things too sweet.
09/05/2016
Information technology was delicious!!!!!!!!! Best apple tree cider ever!!
11/19/2016
I tried this recipe, post-obit it exactly. Instead of Apple tree Cider, I ended up with mostly apple tree butter. In that location was almost no liquid. I used about 1 one/2 cups of water to pour through the strainer hoping that would help. I didn't want to water it downwards anymore so I stopped trying to add water and strain. I tasted the mixture of apples and it reminded me of apple butter, so I decided to employ it every bit that instead. The small amount of juice I got out of the recipe did non taste like apple cider, but it didn't taste bad. I won't be making information technology again.
11/23/2016
Followed the recipe exactly. No snags or snaffoos to study. Excellent cider and good warm likewise. I have made it 3x and am making it for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I wonder if the apple tree moosh could be used for something like muffins. It would besides be beneficial to know a more efficient mode of de-juicing the apples afterward without a masticating type of juicer.
xi/16/2019
I fabricated this in the crock pot and it turned out really yummy. I used granny smith apples and cored them so I could use the solids. I used extra spices to taste. I started the pot on high for 3 hours then reduced to low for 3. This yielded ii quarts of pretty thick cider. I plan on thinning information technology out simply a bit before serving. The solids made nearly v cups of puree that went direct into breads and muffins.
09/30/2019
Good recipe merely you are SERIOUSLY missing out if you don't save the excess apple for apple sauce! Only stick it in a blender and add a few teaspoons of saccharide to taste and you're done! **We did not apply a cheese textile though so ours might have been a slightly unlike consistency than others.** Either way, we've done this twice at present with bang-up results.
11/27/2020
Delicious.
11/05/2016
I make a couple of batches a yr and information technology usually lasts me through the winter. It tastes skillful and makes my firm smell cracking. I follow the recipe to a T and information technology works well. I don't especially enjoy running anything through a cheesecloth but it does assistance get all the apple broth/remains out that a strainer tin can't! I usually serve this with some spiced rum or gin for the holidays!
09/thirteen/2019
I've never made cider before, but afterwards having some my sister in law fabricated, I was inspired to discover a recipe like hers (she didn't actually have a recipe lol). It tasted a LOT like hers and I'll definitely exist making this once more!
01/28/2013
Crawly cider recipe, however, don't discard the remains from the apples! Information technology makes great applesauce!
08/01/2017
I remember mayhap I didnt make information technology right but I merely got most one filled jar of apple cider from this, I must not of added enough h2o. Other than that I loved this ^~^
eleven/02/2019
Due to my hubby having a cinnamon allergy I had to cut the cinnamon to a i/4 of a Tbs but information technology came out really good I composite the apples up and fabricated them into a nice applesauce. I boiled it down and added a cup of apple juice and made it bomb. I will be making it once again and utilize this recipe for apple pie filling.

So easy. Did non read the directions carefully so I peeled and cored the apples. I did not have cheese cloth and then I just put the cider through a strainer and although there were some $.25 it was really proficient. Nosotros all enjoyed it

Never made cider before merely I had a ton on homegrown apples (champagne&yellow delicious) then I decided to try something new. I had already canned applesauce and froze bags of apples for apple pies. I did this recipe exactly as written merely instead of allspice I added 2 teaspoons ground cloves. I don't like allspice. The cider was excellent, merely information technology doesn't make that much afterward cooking for 3 hours. Brand certain yous accept a tight hat and simply simmer concluding two hours. Most 2 quarts if you add a little more water the last hour of cooking. I'll double the recipe next time. I took the pulp that was left over and made spiced apple butter spread which I canned. I didn't even have to add any boosted spice. Great recipe!

I read couple of comments that said the cider was too sweetness. Hint: Gustatory modality your apples FIRST then add saccharide to taste. If y'all are using a tart apple so obviously yous would demand more sugar.

Then simple, easy and absolutely succulent. I like the idea of taking the fourth dimension to let the flavors and spices infuse with the boiling/simmering...worth the effort. Information technology's in my permanent recipe files!

Really like this! I had a agglomeration of trivial tiny apples that were on the too one-time side to eat, it's probably about what 10 big apples would be, and so I chopped them upward and added about 1/2 loving cup sugar (since I wasn't certain if I had the 10 apples or not, figured I could add more if needed). And so I followed the advice of a couple of people who threw everything into a crock pot and cooked on high for vii hours. I tasted the cider at six hours and it was a lilliputian weak, I tasted it over again at vii hours and DELISH! And so good, so flavorful. Thank you for the recipe!
